La Charito isn't just a catering company — it's a family legacy. Our recipes have been passed down through three generations of Latin American home cooks, and today we bring that warmth and flavour to every event we cater across Melbourne.
Our Story
It started in a family kitchen in South America, where our grandmother — our abuela — spent decades perfecting the recipes that would become the heart of La Charito. Arepas hand-shaped from fresh corn dough. Carne mechada slow-cooked for hours until it fell apart at the touch of a fork. Guasacaca made from avocados picked that morning.
When our family moved to Melbourne, we brought those recipes with us. What began as cooking for friends and family gatherings quickly grew into something bigger. People kept asking: "Can you cater our wedding?" "Can you do our office lunch?" "Can you bring this food to our birthday party?"
The answer was always yes. And La Charito was born.
Today, we operate from a registered Class 2 commercial kitchen in Port Melbourne, equipped with Rationale Combi-Ovens and rapid Blast-Chill technology. But the soul of our food hasn't changed — every dish is still made from the same recipes our abuela taught us, using the same techniques, with the same love.

Naturally Inclusive
Latin American cuisine is inherently gluten-free — made from corn, rice, plantains, and slow-cooked meats. No token GF options. The whole menu is naturally safe for most dietary needs.
